Mr. Stuart G. Eaton, MB BS (Melb), FRACS
Biography
Stuart is a Specialist General Surgeon with interests in laparoscopic surgery for the management of upper gastrointestinal disease, obesity and splenic and adrenal pathology, as well as Surgical Oncology including breast and skin pathology.
Stuart trained in Melbourne through Melbourne University and then the Royal Melbourne Hospital. After obtaining his surgical qualification in 1998 he undertook months post fellowship training at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute gaining experience in breast cancer, melanoma and thyroid/ parathyroid pathology.
He then went to the UK and worked at the Stockport Unit for Minimally Invasive Therapy (SUMIT) near Manchester gaining experience in a wide variety of laparoscopic procedures in the management of hernias and upper gastrointestinal disease as well as resections for gastric and oesophageal malignancy.
In 2001 Stuart returned to Australia and commenced practice at Ballarat, introducing laparoscopic adrenalectomy, laparoscopic TAPP hernia repair and transhiatal oesophagectomy. In 2007 Stuart trained in laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding surgery for the management of obesity with Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy and Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery added to the procedures performed in 2011 after further clinical training.
Stuart is a member of OSSANZ (Obesity Surgery Society Australia and New Zealand) and has contributed patients to the BSR(Bariatric Surgery Registry) since its inception.
